As reported by ARLNow: "Despite opposition from Alexandria and other Northern Virginia localities, bills permitting by-right multifamily development in commercial zones are advancing in the Virginia General Assembly."
Many supporters of the by-right multifamily development bill in commercial zones believes this is an effective way to create walkable, multi-use communities in areas which are currently zoned for strip malls and big box stores.
