PLAN LANGSTON BLVD
Another win!
The Langston Blvd Area Plan passed the County Board. Now property owners have more opportunities to add housing and improve the streetscape as they redevelop their properties.
Arlington has a lot of new developments and planning processes happening, but here are the ones that we are following. Reach out if you would like to support anything on this list, or let us know about something we should add.
Launched in October 2024, Arlington’s Transportation Future is a County initiative to develop a refreshed Transportation Plan, to replace the 2007 Master Transportation Plan. With this plan, Arlington will be better positioned to fulfill our commitments to safety, equity, accessibility, ease of use, and climate resiliency and address the transportation needs for both current and future residents.
In February 2022, we helped push the County to pass the Pentagon City Sector Plan, which brings opportunities for more housing in the neighborhood. Now JBG Smith is planning infill development on the RiverHouse property. We're working to make sure there is as much housing as possible in this redevelopment.

In May 2024, we joined with advocates to support Melwood, a nonprofit, to get the rezoning it needs to pursue a plan to add 100 units of Affordable Housing on its site. Now Melwood is starting the Site Plan process, which will give NIMBY neighbors a chance to scale back or derail the plan. Stay tuned for opportunities in the coming months to speak up in support of Affordable Housing.
Each Monday, a member of the Arlington County Board holds a virtual session to meet one-on-one (or in small groups) with constituents. Each Virtual Open Door Monday runs from 7-9 pm, but you do not have to stay for the entire time.

Maureen Coffey wins one of the Democratic endorsements!
Thank you to everyone who canvassed, phone banked, texted, talked to friends, and took the time to vote. We are thrilled that Maureen Coffey was elected to the Arlington County Board, the first renter to serve in that role!
